The challenge during the holiday season is to take the time to enjoy it. We have put so much into the holiday that just doesn’t need to be there that we end up running each day from one activity to another, from one store to another but never take the time to enjoy the things that are most important.
If you are a Christian, what is this holiday truly about? Is it gifts given and gotten? Is it cookies or parties? Those things are all there, part of all of our memories but we are missing the real reason that all those things are happening. The birth of Jesus is the most important reason for the season. What can we do to remember this on a daily basis? How can we remind our children who focus more on the bearded guy and the presents?
This year, like last year our Christmas eve story will be about the birth of Jesus not the coming of Saint Nick. The kids are also going to make and decorate a cake for Jesus’ birthday and that will be breakfast on Christmas day as we remember the reason for the season.
What ideas do you have to share?
